The Siemens S30810-Q2255-X is an IOPAX Input-Output Processor board for the Hicom 300 and Hicom 300E systems, also compatible with HiPath 4000. IOPAX controls the system’s peripheral storage drives (cartridge and hard disk) over SCSI, provides disturbance-free coupling of SCSI drives for testing and maintenance without taking the system down, and handles operating-status and alarm signalling through a 7-segment display, alongside a battery-buffered clock and a V.24 monitor interface used for tracing and control. A DIL switch on the board sets its operating mode between the standard IOPA function and the alternative IOPS function, with a further setting to activate Siemens’s SIRIUS mode. As a storage-and-alarm control board rather than a peripheral extension card, its condition affects system diagnostics, storage access and fault reporting rather than any single trunk or extension.
