The ADVA 0058001201 is an ADVA ATT/01DB/LC fixed optical attenuator, a 1 dB in-line attenuator terminated with LC connectors. It is fitted into the optical path of an ADVA FSP transport shelf to reduce the power of an incoming or outgoing signal by a fixed amount, protecting a receiver or amplifier input from overload where the fibre run is short or the transmit power on that port is otherwise too high.

Attenuators of this type are stocked alongside the wider ADVA FSP 150, FSP 1500, FSP 2000 and FSP 3000 optical transport range, and are typically fitted when rebalancing an existing span, when a shorter patch replaces a longer one, or when a newly installed pluggable optic runs hotter than the port it now feeds. Because the attenuation value is fixed rather than adjustable, the correct part has to match the loss budget of the specific link it is added to.
