Marconi/Nokia T30041.04 Nokia Synfonet / Marconi SDH transmission Optical Transmission Module

The Marconi/Nokia T30041.04 is a Synfonet 2M tributary access unit built for 75 ohm unbalanced working. It presents sixteen 2 Mbit/s circuits to the multiplexer and adds the tributary access function, which allows a circuit to be monitored or looped at the shelf without breaking the station wiring. As with the rest of this group, impedance is fixed by the build rather than selectable, so a 75 ohm unit cannot stand in for a 120 ohm one.

Nokia Synfonet is early SDH, carried into the Marconi portfolio after the 1999 acquisition, and it is still running on private and utility networks where the ring was built once and then maintained rather than replaced. The platform spans STM-1 through STM-16 with 64 kbit/s cross connection, and every node is built up from interface units, control and timing, service and management cards, power feeds and mechanical parts. Spares are sourced by exact code, because the number after the decimal point decides which release and which optical variant a unit will work with.
