Marconi/Nokia T30046.02 Nokia Synfonet / Marconi SDH transmission Optical Transmission Module

The Marconi/Nokia T30046.02 is a Synfonet electrical interface unit for 34 and 45 Mbit/s tributaries, catalogued with the tributary access function fitted. It terminates E3 or DS3 circuits at the node and maps them into the SDH payload, and the access function lets those circuits be monitored or looped at the shelf. This is the higher order tributary card in a Synfonet shelf, sitting above the 2 Mbit/s units and below the optical aggregates.

The Synfonet range covers SDH add and drop multiplexing and small cross connection at STM-1, STM-4 and STM-16, and it survives today mostly on private networks in transport, utility and public sector use. Nokia developed it, Marconi acquired it in 1999, and neither company supports it now, so every remaining site depends on the secondary market for plug-in units, subracks, power assemblies and fan parts. The suffix after the decimal point identifies the build variant and is not always interchangeable within one base number.
