Marconi/Nokia T30404.01 arrived on our records with no description at all, and we have not been able to resolve the suffix to a named unit in any published Nokia listing. The base numbers immediately either side of it are Synfonet subracks, so it may well be shelf level hardware rather than a plug-in card, but that is an inference from neighbouring codes and we are not going to present it as fact. Nokia Synfonet is early SDH, carried into the Marconi portfolio after the 1999 acquisition, and it is still running on private and utility networks where the ring was built once and then maintained rather than replaced. The platform spans STM-1 through STM-16 with 64 kbit/s cross connection, and every node is built up from interface units, control and timing, service and management cards, power feeds and mechanical parts.
