It sits at the network edge of small and medium enterprise voice deployments, securing and connecting SIP trunks between the IP-PBX or unified communications platform and the service provider.

As an E-SBC the Mediant 800C handles SIP signalling and media control, protocol interworking, security and call survivability. Its integrated media gateway supports analogue (FXS/FXO) and digital (BRI/PRI) interface options for connecting legacy telephony and PSTN lines, while built-in LAN and WAN Ethernet ports let it act as a single converged access device for branch and headquarters sites.
