The Lucent 0800-0870-001 is a Line Protection Module (LPM) designed for the APX8100 series optical transport platform. This single-line protection module provides automatic protection switching capabilities to ensure service continuity in the event of a fibre path failure or signal degradation.

The APX81-SL-LPM is deployed within Lucent APX8100 multiservice provisioning platforms, which were widely used in metropolitan and regional optical networks. The LPM enables network operators to implement protection schemes that minimise traffic disruption and maintain high availability for critical telecommunications services.
