Mounted at the rear of the AdvancedTCA shelf directly behind its front hub blade, the RTM presents the external cabling and interface connections for the hub, providing the physical I/O and interconnect that the front blade switches between the other blades in the shelf.

It is part of Nokia’s AdvancedTCA core equipment used in the Media Gateway (MGW), Mobile Switching Server (MSS) and related core nodes. The HBRT3 rear module pairs one-to-one with its hub blade and supports carrier-grade hot-swap serviceability.
