The Huawei DRRU261 is a Distributed Remote Radio Unit (DRRU) from Huawei’s DRRU series, designed for indoor and distributed antenna system (DAS) style coverage rather than macro tower deployment. Unlike a standard macro MRRU/RRU, a DRRU is a lower-power radio unit intended to be positioned close to a distributed set of antennas, extending mobile network coverage into buildings, tunnels or other locations that a single macro radio cannot reach efficiently. It connects back to the baseband unit (BBU3900/BBU3910) over fibre, converting between digital baseband signals and RF for transmission and reception at the antenna. As with the wider DRRU3900 family, the DRRU261 is used by operators and system integrators to fill coverage gaps and add capacity in localised areas without deploying a full macro base station on site.
