The Huawei LSBZE8508 belongs to the Quidway S8508, the mid-sized chassis in Huawei’s S8500 series of core routing switches. The S8500 range was built for the core and aggregation layers of enterprise, campus and metro Ethernet networks.

The S8508 chassis provides ten slots. The middle two hold SRPU main control and switching boards in 1+1 redundancy, and the other eight take line processing units with FE, GE and 10GE ports. The chassis is divided into a power supply area, a board area, a backplane and a fan area, and all modules are hot-swappable. It can be powered from AC mains at 100 to 240 V or from a -48 V DC plant.

In the series, the S8508 sits between the smaller S8505 and the 14-slot S8512.
