The Juniper PB-TUNNEL is a Tunnel Services PIC for Juniper M-series and T-series routers. It supports GRE, IP-IP and other tunnel encapsulations, and logical, unicast and multicast tunnel interfaces. It provides the physical network interface and hands traffic to the router’s packet-forwarding engine. Tunnel PICs are commonly used for MPLS, multicast and VPN tunnelling on the host router. It is a field-replaceable unit, supplied as a spare or to add capacity to an existing deployment.
