Ciena NXLANSSS-REV 06: Optical Supervisory Channel (OSC) function

The Ciena NXLANSSS-REV 06 is an Optical Supervisory Channel (OSC) card from Ciena’s ONI Systems ONLINE 5000/7000 (ON7000) metro DWDM optical transport platform, a product line Ciena acquired with its purchase of ONI Systems Corp in 2002.

Despite the NXLAN part-number prefix, it is not an Ethernet/LAN interface card. The OSC function carries the platform’s management, monitoring and control-plane signalling on a dedicated out-of-band wavelength alongside the traffic-bearing DWDM channels handled by the platform’s NXWDM mux/demux cards.

Tech-Star ships this legacy Ciena/ONI component worldwide from the UK for engineers keeping existing ON7000 metro DWDM rings running or expanding them. Our team can confirm it suits your shelf configuration before you order.
