The Mitel 50004138 is a spare parallel-port Zip removable-disk drive for a physical NuPoint IP Messenger server. Physical NuPoint is a server-based voicemail and unified-messaging platform, running on a rack-mount PC server rather than the dedicated ISA-backplane chassis used by the earlier NuPoint Messenger Model 70 system, which used its own internal Zip drive for the same purpose. This external parallel-port Zip drive is used as a field-serviceable backup and software-loading device for the server, letting a technician load software updates or back up mailbox data without opening the server chassis.
