The MP-82 is an enterprise-class access point built for high-density deployments, with six internal antennas for omnidirectional coverage, a single Gigabit Ethernet port, and 802.3af PoE operation, and it connects back to a Trapeze Mobility Exchange wireless LAN controller for centralised management. Nortel resold Trapeze’s wireless LAN hardware under its own branding before exiting the enterprise networking business in 2009, so genuine units carrying a Nortel part number such as this one remain in service at sites that deployed Nortel-badged Trapeze WLAN infrastructure.
