Alcatel-Lucent 3AL86708AD: 1696 Metro Span optical protection-switching card for Alcatel-Lucent DWDM transport shelves.

The Alcatel-Lucent 3AL86708AD is an optical protection card for the 1696 Metro Span, Alcatel-Lucent’s metro DWDM optical transport platform. The card monitors the working and protect optical paths and switches traffic onto the protect fibre automatically if the working path fails, giving the DWDM ring or span resilience without manual intervention. 1696 Metro Span shelves of this generation remain in service across established metro and regional fibre networks. Genuine secondary-market spares like this one are routinely used to restore redundancy after a card failure, maintain full system capacity, or expand an existing shelf. Confirm compatibility against your specific 1696 Metro Span shelf and software revision before ordering. Tech-Star (UK-based, shipped worldwide) supplies Alcatel-Lucent components for ongoing network maintenance.
