The ALCATEL 3AL79090BA is a SYNTH1N clock and synthesizer card for the Alcatel-Lucent 1660SM and 1670SM Compact ADM-1 synchronous digital hierarchy configuration. It generates and distributes the timing references the shelf needs to synchronise its SDH tributary and aggregate cards, and, like the higher-capacity SYNTH-16 card, also performs equipment controller, performance-monitoring collection and remote inventory functions for the Compact ADM variant of the platform. The card is a core control-plane component of the Compact ADM-1 shelf, without which the SDH cross-connect and interface cards cannot maintain synchronised, alarm-monitored operation.
