The Huawei 039979107 is an OBU (Optical Booster Unit), a C-band optical amplifier board for the OptiX OSN DWDM/OTN transmission platforms such as the OSN 1800, 6800 and 8800. As a booster amplifier the OBU raises the output power of the multiplexed optical signal before it enters the transmission fibre, using automatic gain control to lock the gain and support stable long-haul and metro DWDM links. It works alongside receive-side amplifier boards such as the OAU (Optical Amplifier Unit) within the amplification stage of the WDM line system, typically handling up to 40 channels at 100 GHz spacing.
