The IBM 23R4687 is an IBM 3588-F3B TS3500 LTO Ultrium 3 tape drive, 4Gb Fibre Channel interface with an optical LC connector, offering 400GB native / 800GB compressed capacity at up to 80MB/sec transfer. It is cross-referenced under the related part number 23R5146. This drive generation can also read (but not write) LTO Ultrium 2 cartridges at their original capacity, and can read LTO Ultrium 1 cartridges, which matters for sites running mixed-generation cartridge libraries.
