The Juniper 740-056705 is a QSFP-40G-LX4 optical transceiver module designed for 40 Gigabit Ethernet connectivity. This transceiver utilises LX4 technology, which employs wavelength division multiplexing over four lanes to achieve 40Gbps aggregate throughput over multimode fibre infrastructure.

The QSFP-40G-LX4 form factor is engineered for deployment in Juniper switching and routing platforms requiring high-density 40GbE connectivity. The LX4 variant is specifically designed to support extended reach over OM3 and OM4 multimode fibre, making it suitable for datacentre interconnects and campus backbone applications where existing multimode fibre plant is already installed.

This transceiver provides a cost-effective migration path to 40GbE without requiring single-mode fibre infrastructure, supporting distances of up to 150 metres on OM4 multimode fibre. It is hot-swappable and conforms to QSFP+ MSA specifications for interoperability within Juniper networking environments.
