The Juniper OC3-4SMI/O-A is a four-port OC-3/STM-1 single-mode I/O adapter for the Juniper ERX edge router family (E-series). It provides four single-mode OC-3/STM-1 SC full-duplex ports with a reach of up to 15 km. An I/O adapter fits at the rear of the ERX chassis and pairs with a line module at the front, and this one works with the OC3/OC12-ATM, ERX-OCXA256M-MOD and OC3/OC12-POS line modules. It carries the optical connections only, so the line module behind it decides whether the ports run ATM or packet-over-SONET. The A suffix marks the hardware revision.
