The Juniper T640-FPC3-E2-A is a Flexible PIC Concentrator (FPC), Enhanced II, Type 3 for the Juniper T640. The FPC carries the Physical Interface Cards (PICs) that connect the router to the network and links them to the switch fabric. The -A suffix is the hardware revision. The FPC parses, prioritises and queues packets before forwarding them across the midplane to the destination interface. It is a field-replaceable unit, supplied as a spare or to add capacity to an existing deployment.
