Model 70 systems of this generation used an Iomega Zip drive as a field-serviceable backup and software-loading device, fitted internally alongside the system’s floppy drive and hard disk. This spare unit replaces a failed or worn drive during maintenance of an existing Model 70 installation, restoring the technician’s ability to load system software, patches or greetings and to back up mailbox data locally.
