Nortel 315656-B: Delta-built DPS-350MB 350W hot-swap power supply module for the Nortel RPS-350 and RPS-700 redundant power units.

The Nortel 315656-B is a 350W hot-swap switch mode power supply module, built by Delta Electronics as the DPS-350MB and carried under Nortel’s own 315656-B order code. It is the plug-in module for the Nortel RPS-350 and RPS-700 redundant power supply units, the external shelves used to back up Nortel and BayStack edge switches so that a switch losing its internal supply keeps forwarding rather than dropping the segment.

Modules are hot-swappable within the shelf, so a failed unit can be changed without interrupting the switches it protects. The point of a redundant power shelf is lost once it is running short of a module, which is why these are normally replaced promptly rather than left out. The rating label on the module carries the definitive output figures and is what we check against a requirement.
