It belongs to Nortel’s PDMX family, a programmable digital multiplexer built as a complete transmission system for private-network operators carrying voice and data traffic over PDH (plesiochronous digital hierarchy) circuits, where a shelf’s common control unit interfaces to the 2 Mbit/s trunk and individual plug-in tributary cards give access to subscriber and other outlets.
