The Nortel NT8B90AAAE is a Meridian 1 ATA-2 (Analog Terminal Adaptor, version 2) card, allowing a standard analogue telephone, fax machine or modem to connect to and be controlled by a Meridian 1/CS1000 digital PBX line circuit.

Nortel Meridian 1 and CS1000 systems remain in service across offices, hospitals, universities and public sector sites. Manufacturer support ended with the move to Avaya, so secondary-market cards are now the normal route to keeping one of these switches running and its analogue extensions working.
