Nortel NTCA70VL: Nortel Optical Metro 2.5 Gbit/s wavelength translator circuit pack.

The Nortel NTCA70VL is a 2.5G WT circuit pack. WT is the wavelength translator, the Optical Metro function that takes a client signal and re-transmits it on an assigned DWDM wavelength, and 2.5 Gbit/s is the line rate the pack is built for.

Optical Metro and OPTera Metro systems, later carried forward by Ciena, are still transporting traffic in metro and regional fibre networks. Individual circuit packs are the normal unit of maintenance, and matched spares are what restore a protected path or extend a shelf that is already installed.
