The OME 6500 is a global optical transport platform that can be deployed in both SONET and SDH environments, supporting DWDM optics to scale core network capacity even where fibre is constrained. This circuit pack fits into a compatible OME 6500 shelf alongside other transponder, aggregate and control cards to build out a complete optical transport node. OME 6500 deployments of this generation remain in service across a number of established metro and long-haul optical transport networks, and genuine circuit packs such as this one are a routine requirement for maintaining full shelf capacity or replacing a failed card.
