The Nortel NTSX05AA is a DMS-100 XPM/CPM PC Processor card, fitted with onboard DRAM, for the Extended Peripheral Module (XPM) and Common Peripheral Module (CPM) shelves on the DMS-100 platform. It provides the local processing power those peripheral modules need to run their line, trunk and interface cards independently of the DMS-100’s main Central Processor. DMS-100 exchanges of this generation remain in service in a number of established telecoms networks, and genuine XPM/CPM processor spares are a routine requirement for maintaining full peripheral-module capacity or restoring redundancy after a card failure.
