The ZTE R8873A is an outdoor remote radio unit (RRU) from ZTE’s ZXSDR distributed base station portfolio. It works with a ZXSDR baseband unit (BBU) over a CPRI optical fibre link to handle radio frequency transmission and reception at the antenna site, converting digital baseband signals to and from RF for the air interface. Built on software-defined radio, the R8873A is part of ZTE’s macro RRU family used for GSM, UMTS and LTE mobile network coverage, and is powered from a nominal -48V DC supply. Mounted close to the antenna, it reduces feeder loss and improves signal quality compared with traditional base station designs. As a legacy radio unit it remains in demand for maintaining and expanding installed ZTE radio access networks. Available from Tech Star as new or refurbished stock.
