The 3Com 3CSFP91 is a 1000BASE-SX multimode SFP transceiver fitted with an LC duplex connector, a genuine 3Com Gigabit Ethernet optic rather than a chassis-specific module. 1000BASE-SX reaches around 220 to 550 metres over multimode fibre depending on the fibre grade, making it suited to intra-building and short campus links rather than long inter-site spans, where a 1000BASE-LX single-mode module would be needed instead. It is usable across any 3Com switch family with standard SFP uplink slots, including several generations of SuperStack and Switch 4200/4500-series equipment, rather than being tied to one chassis.
