The IBM 10N9005 is an InfiniBand fabric card, part of IBM’s GX-bus host channel adapter (HCA) family that connects a POWER5 or POWER6-generation pSeries server directly into an InfiniBand switch fabric for high-bandwidth, low-latency cluster interconnects.

IBM introduced these GX HCAs to replace older SP Switch interconnects on its High Performance Computing clusters once InfiniBand became the preferred fabric for workloads needing very high inter-node throughput. The same card family carried through IBM’s POWER5 and POWER6 clustered server lines.
