The Siemens S32011-Q60-B858-3 is a TransXpress SLD16 STM-16 optical interface unit. Cards in the Q60 group terminate a 2.5 Gbit/s SDH span at the line terminal, and the B-series builds run across the short, long and very long reach optical variants Siemens offered for the platform. Because reach is fixed by the optics fitted rather than configured in software, matching the build is what decides whether a spare will actually light the span you are running.

Siemens TransXpress was the company’s SDH transmission portfolio, and the S32011 block within it covers the SLD16 and SLR16 line equipment used on STM-16 routes. Nodes are made up of optical interface units at several STM rates, a sync multiplexer controller, telemetry and supervisory cards, and the power and shelf hardware that supports them. Siemens transmission passed to Nokia Siemens Networks and then out of support altogether, so operators still running these routes maintain them from held spares matched by full part number.
