The Alcatel Lucent 3HE00188AA is a DC power entry module for the 7750 SR-7 chassis. A power entry module takes the site DC feed, protects and distributes it to the chassis, and reports its state to the control processor, and service provider installations fit them in redundant pairs fed from separate supplies. Power entry modules are specific to the chassis size and to the supply type, so a DC module and an AC module are not alternatives for one another.

The Alcatel-Lucent 7750 Service Router is a carrier edge platform, built around a chassis holding control processors, switch fabric modules, IOM line cards with pluggable MDAs, and redundant power entry modules. The SR-7 and SR-12 chassis were widely deployed by service providers for IP and MPLS edge aggregation and the platform is still supported under Nokia, so spares for the earlier hardware generations are a routine maintenance purchase rather than a rescue.
