The Avaya S8300C is the S8300C Voice Server Media Module (700466006), a server-on-a-card that slots into the media module bay of an Avaya G250, G350 or G700 media gateway to run Avaya Communication Manager as an embedded call-processing engine. It gives the gateway its own local survivable call control, so a branch site can keep making and receiving calls even if the connection back to a central Communication Manager server is lost. The S8300C generation supports up to several hundred users and stations depending on licensing, and it is a like-for-like replacement or upgrade for an ageing S8300 media server in an existing gateway. Genuine units are a routine requirement for maintaining survivability on an established Avaya branch deployment.
