The HP JD118B is an HP X120 1G SFP LC SX transceiver, a Gigabit Ethernet SFP optic with a duplex LC connector for short-range multimode fibre links. It uses an 850nm VCSEL transmitter and PIN photodiode receiver to deliver a full-duplex 1000BASE-SX link up to around 550m on OM3/OM4 multimode fibre, with a minimum guaranteed optical budget of 7.5dB. It is the shorter-reach, lower-cost counterpart to the 1310nm LX optic in the same X120 family (part JF832A), aimed at server-room or building-local Gigabit fibre runs rather than campus-spanning links. It complies with the SFP MSA (SFF-8477) for cross-vendor compatibility on the host side.
