It provides ten output outlets across three groups (eight IEC C13 and two IEC C19), delivering pure sine wave power to protect servers, storage and network equipment through mains interruptions and voltage fluctuations. The unit includes serial and USB connectivity as standard, plus a SmartSlot bay for an optional network management card, enabling graceful automated shutdown of physical servers, virtual machines and HCI clusters via APC PowerChute Network Shutdown software. Typical backup runtime is around eighteen minutes at half load and around six minutes at full load, giving enough time to ride out short outages or execute an orderly shutdown during longer ones. The Smart-UPS X range carries a three-year unit warranty with a separate two-year warranty on the internal lead-acid battery, and is a widely deployed, well-supported choice in datacentre and comms-room environments.
