The Digital Equipment Corporation DVNEA-MX is a VNswitch 900EA module, bridging Ethernet to ATM with twelve 10BASE-T RJ-45 ports and one MMI interface. The EA variant is how a DEChub 900 chassis was attached to an ATM backbone, presenting LAN Emulation to the Ethernet side. It is the module to look for where an existing installation still runs ATM in the core.

The DEChub 900 MultiSwitch was Digital’s modular hub chassis, taking Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, FDDI and ATM modules on a common backplane. Digital’s network products business passed to Cabletron Systems in 1998, which is why later documentation for the same modules carries the Cabletron name.
