IBM 41U9987 Cryptographic Coprocessor Security Module PCIe 4765-001.

The IBM 41U9987 is a PCIe cryptographic coprocessor security module, specifically the IBM 4765-001 variant. This hardware security module (HSM) provides tamper-resistant cryptographic processing capabilities, enabling secure key generation, storage, and cryptographic operations at the hardware level for enterprise server environments.

The IBM 4765 series coprocessor is designed for deployment in IBM System x and Power Systems servers, supporting secure transaction processing, payment system encryption, and sensitive data protection workloads. It offloads cryptographic functions from the main processor whilst maintaining FIPS 140-2 Level 4 security certification standards.

This is a legacy IBM cryptographic module that has been superseded by newer HSM solutions. However, it remains relevant for organisations maintaining existing IBM server infrastructure or requiring compatible replacement hardware for established cryptographic implementations.
