The Nortel AF2111005 is an ASN/ASN2 Quad Sync Net Module, a WAN interface card for Nortel’s Access Stack Node (ASN) and Access Stack Node 2 (ASN2) modular multiprotocol router platform. It fits into the ASN/ASN2 base unit as a net module, adding synchronous serial WAN connectivity for protocols such as Frame Relay, X.25 and leased-line links.

Each Quad Sync Net Module provides four synchronous serial ports, and Nortel’s ASN architecture allowed up to three of these modules to be installed in a single chassis alongside other net module types, giving flexible WAN port density for branch and remote-site routing deployments. The card is hot-swappable within the ASN chassis, in keeping with the platform’s modular design.

These modules were widely deployed in enterprise WAN edge routing during the ASN/ASN2 product generation and remain sought after for maintaining legacy Nortel router estates.
