The Miteq RSUN-B/S-LC is a 1:N redundant switchover unit, capable of protecting up to eight working frequency converters (upconverters or downconverters) with a single standby unit in a satellite earth station RF chain. On detecting a fault on any of the monitored working units, the RSUN automatically switches its traffic to the standby converter, giving cost-effective redundancy for larger installations where providing a full 1:1 backup for every converter would be impractical. It is built for rack mounting alongside the converter bank it protects, with monitoring and control interfaces for remote operation and manual override for planned maintenance. Switchover units of this type were a standard feature of larger teleports and hub facilities running multiple parallel RF chains.
