The Huawei MRFU900 is a Multi-Mode Radio Frequency Unit (MRFU) designed for operation in the 900MHz frequency band. Unlike a standalone outdoor RRU, the MRFU is an indoor RF module that plugs into a Huawei baseband unit cabinet (BBU3900/BBU3910), handling the RF transmission, reception, amplification and filtering functions for the base station from within the equipment room rather than at the mast head. It supports multi-mode operation within the 900MHz spectrum, commonly used for GSM900 and combined 2G/3G deployments on Huawei’s SingleRAN platform. As part of Huawei’s modular base station architecture, the MRFU900 allows operators to configure frequency bands and RF capacity according to their spectrum holdings without redesigning the whole cabinet.
