The Juniper SIB-I8-F16 is a Switch Interface Board (SIB) used inside a T1600 chassis. Boards of this type form part of the T1600’s internal switch fabric, providing any-to-any connectivity between the router’s Flexible PIC Concentrators (FPCs) across the five SIB slots at the rear of the chassis. It is a hot-pluggable, hot-insertable field-replaceable unit designed for tool-less removal and replacement without powering down the chassis; the T1600 runs five of these boards, with one operating as a backup to the other four for fabric redundancy.
