The Juniper SSB-E-16-M20-B is an Enhanced System and Switch Board (SSB) for the Juniper M20 router, fitted with the Internet Processor II and 16 MB of memory. The SSB is the M20 packet forwarding and switching board: it holds the Internet Processor ASIC and connects the FPCs to each other and to the Routing Engine. The -B suffix is the hardware revision of the board.

The M20 was the first Juniper router to offer redundancy for its power supplies, Routing Engine and SSB, so a matched spare allows a failed board to be swapped for the redundant one.
