The Siemens S30810-Q2258-X is an RGE (Ring Generator) card for the Siemens Hicom/HiPath PBX platform, not an EWSD carrier-exchange card. It generates the ringing voltage the system’s analogue subscriber-line cards apply to connected telephones, fax machines and similar analogue devices to signal an incoming call.

Hicom (later renamed HiPath) is Siemens’ enterprise PBX range, built from a control shelf plus line-card slots carrying a mix of analogue, digital and trunk interface modules under the shared S30810 material-code numbering. This is a different platform from Siemens’ EWSD, which is a much larger carrier-grade central-office switching system used by network operators rather than an enterprise PBX; the two share a manufacturer but not a card format, which is why getting the platform right matters when matching a spare.
