The Nortel NTKD12AA is an STM-1 electrical tributary interface card, part of Nortel’s TN-1X STM-1 add and drop multiplexer for SDH access networks. As Nortel’s STM-1 add and drop multiplexer, the TN-1X is installed widely across UK and European SDH access networks, carrying 2 Mbit/s and STM-1 traffic between exchange and access sites. TN-1X nodes installed years ago are still carrying live traffic on a number of access networks, and this card is a like-for-like Nortel spare for that installed base. Card revisions and firmware loads vary across the TN-1X’s service life, so confirm the shelf slot and revision this unit replaces before ordering.
