The 3Com 3C16406 is a SuperStack II PS Hub 40, a 24-port 10Base-T Ethernet hub from 3Com’s SuperStack II Position Stackable range. It provides shared-media twisted-pair connectivity across a larger workgroup than the 12-port variant of the same family, stacking with other SuperStack II PS Hub units to extend a shared segment under common management. Hub-based SuperStack II hardware of this generation was widely deployed through the mid-to-late 1990s ahead of the move to switched Ethernet, and a genuine replacement restores a failed unit’s ports without disturbing the rest of an existing stack.
