The 3Com 3C17528 is a Switch 8800 48-Port 10/100/1000 expansion module, delivering forty-eight ports of 10/100/1000Base-T Gigabit Ethernet switching over standard Category 5 twisted-pair cabling from a single chassis slot. It supports on-board Layer 2/3/4 switching, allowing packets that stay local to the module to be handled without loading the chassis backplane or switch fabric.

The module is compatible with the Switch 8810, 8807 and 8814 chassis starter kits, and can be fitted with the separate 3C17529 PoE option (PoE DIMM module) to add Power over Ethernet across its ports where endpoints need in-line power. It is also known by its HP equivalent part number JE180A, reflecting HP’s acquisition of 3Com in 2010.
