The 3Com 3C16405 is a SuperStack II PS Hub 40 TP, a 12-port 10Base-T Ethernet hub from 3Com’s SuperStack II Position Stackable range. It provides shared-media twisted-pair connectivity for a small workgroup, and stacks physically and logically with other SuperStack II PS Hub units to build larger shared segments under common management. Hub-based SuperStack II hardware of this generation was common in SME networks through the mid-to-late 1990s, and a genuine replacement restores a failed unit’s ports without disturbing the rest of an existing stack.
