The Nortel NTFP43DC is an E1 Voice Function Processor (FP) card for Nortel’s Passport/Multiservice Switch (MSS) platform, sharing its NTFP-prefixed part numbering with the other function-processor and interface-panel cards from the same family catalogued in this range. It provisions E1 voice trunk ports onto the Passport/MSS shelf, carrying digitised voice traffic across the switch’s ATM/Frame Relay backbone alongside the platform’s data function processors. Tech-Star supplies this as a secondary-market spare for maintaining or expanding an existing Passport/MSS deployment. Passport/MSS function processors of this type are field-replaceable without taking the whole shelf out of service, so a spare E1 voice FP lets an engineer restore a failed voice trunk group with minimal disruption to the rest of the shelf’s traffic.
