Nortel NTFX31AA: DMS-100 IOM paddleboard, rear-of-backplane power-feed and diagnostic-loopback board for up to 16 IOM smart connectors, replacing the earlier NT1X61A-series.

The Nortel NTFX31AA is an IOM (Input/Output Module) paddleboard for the Nortel DMS-100 central-office digital switching platform, mounted at the rear of the backplane and used together with its companion NTFX30AA board. It carries the power-feed circuits for up to 16 IOM smart connectors, passes power and signal through to the smart connector at the end of each cable, and implements a local loopback path for diagnostic testing, occupying the shelf’s slot 3 position. The assembly is the documented replacement for the earlier NT1X61AA/AB/AD/AG paddleboards on the same platform. DMS-100 exchanges of this generation remain in service in a number of established telecoms networks, and genuine spares such as this one are a routine requirement for maintaining full shelf capacity or restoring redundancy after a board failure.
